About the Role

Harper May is working with a London-based construction and property group that has expanded significantly over the past two years, with a growing portfolio of residential and commercial projects. The business is founder-led, operationally lean, and scaling its financial infrastructure to support anticipated growth across a larger pipeline. The finance function has matured but requires additional analytical capacity to embed better cost visibility and forecasting discipline across projects. They are now seeking a Finance Analyst to join the team.

The Role
Reporting to the Finance Director, you will own project financial performance analysis and reporting. You will work across live development schemes, tracking profitability, cost adherence, and cash movement. This role sits between finance and operations, giving you genuine influence over investment decisions and resource allocation. You will support medium-term forecasting, build financial models, and ensure senior management has clear, timely visibility of project health.

  • Analyse financial performance across the project portfolio, identifying variance and cost drivers
  • Produce project-level management reporting with clear commentary on budget performance and margin exposure
  • Build and maintain cost forecasting models, including scenario planning for funding and cash flow
  • Review cost-to-complete estimates and assess development profitability at key milestones
  • Support management accounts preparation and reconciliation of project ledgers
  • Work with operations and site teams to validate data and improve financial accuracy
  • Contribute to the evolution of financial controls and reporting templates

What we are looking for

  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified (or near completion)
  • Prior experience in property, construction, or a contract-led business environment
  • Working knowledge of WIP accounting, milestone recognition, and project cash cycles
  • Strong Excel skills and ability to build straightforward financial models
  • Pragmatic and solution-focused; comfortable asking questions and pushing back respectfully
  • Organised and able to manage competing priorities in a growing organisation
