About the Role

Harper May is working with a well-established consumer durables manufacturer with a strong UK and export presence. The business is family-owned, profitable, and has maintained steady growth over the past five years through operational discipline and product innovation. With recent investment in supply chain modernisation and a push into new markets, the finance function is being strengthened to support more granular commercial reporting and margin management across their product lines. The business is now seeking a Finance Analyst to join the team.

The Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will support the core finance operations, with particular focus on product line profitability, working capital management, and financial planning cycles. This is a commercially engaged role that will expose you to sales, procurement, and operations teams, giving you clear visibility into how financial decisions drive business outcomes.

  • Prepare and reconcile monthly management accounts with detailed narrative commentary on variances
  • Analyse product-level margins, gross profit trends, and contribution by customer segment
  • Monitor cash conversion, working capital cycles, and inventory ageing
  • Support annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting with scenario modelling
  • Investigate cost anomalies and flag commercial or operational issues to senior management
  • Maintain spreadsheet-based reporting tools and refresh KPI dashboards
  • Liaise with operations and sales to validate assumptions and improve data quality

What we are looking for

  • Solid grounding in management accounting concepts and P&L analysis
  • Confident Excel user with the ability to build and maintain financial models
  • Comfortable presenting findings to non-finance colleagues and asking clarifying questions
  • Organised, methodical, and able to manage competing deadlines
