About the Role

Harper May is working with a founder-led financial services firm managing £500m+ in assets under administration. The business has grown steadily over the past five years through organic expansion and strategic hiring, and now operates across three offices in the UK. Recent regulatory changes and headcount growth have made it clear that finance needs to strengthen its operational backbone-particularly around control frameworks and reporting consistency. The firm is now seeking a Finance Manager to build on this foundation.

The Role
You will report to the Finance Director and own the full finance operations cycle: from close preparation through to external audit handover. The role sits at a pivotal moment-the business has outgrown its current finance structure, and you'll be expected to bring order, rigor, and a scalable approach to processes that currently run on manual effort and institutional knowledge. This is a hands-on position that blends technical execution with process improvement.

  • Lead month-end and quarter-end close processes, delivering accurate management and statutory accounts on time
  • Establish and maintain robust reconciliation procedures across balance sheet accounts
  • Coordinate with external auditors and ensure all regulatory obligations are met
  • Build and document financial control procedures to support compliance and reduce risk
  • Prepare budget variance analysis and support forecasting cycles
  • Identify process bottlenecks and implement improvements to increase efficiency
  • Mentor junior finance staff and ensure knowledge transfer as the team grows

What we are looking for

  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified
  • Minimum 4 years' post-qualification experience in finance operations or control roles
  • Track record in a regulated sector, particularly financial services or asset management
  • Strong technical accounting skills and comfort with balance sheet ownership
  • Proven ability to design and embed controls in a growing business
  • Clear communicator comfortable presenting to senior management and external stakeholders
