Chief Financial Officer
Meet Our Recruiter
About the Role
Harper May is working with a founder-led media and events business that has built a strong reputation across live festivals, branded experiences, and content production over the past eight years. The company operates across multiple revenue streams with a growing team of 120+ people and has recently secured backing from strategic investors to fuel expansion into new geographies and event formats. As the business scales and diversifies its portfolio, finance needs to become a more prominent strategic function. They are now seeking a Chief Financial Officer to join the executive team.
The Role
You will be the CFO, reporting directly to the CEO and the Board, with full ownership of financial strategy, reporting, and control across the group. This is a hands-on role that balances strategic oversight with direct involvement in deal evaluation, capital deployment, and operational discipline. You will act as the primary financial voice in board discussions, investor relations, and major business decisions in a rapidly evolving, event-driven environment.
- Build and lead a finance function that scales with the business, recruiting and developing talent as needed
- Develop multi-year financial plans, rolling forecasts, and scenario modelling to support board decision-making
- Own the investor relationship, prepare board packs, manage fundraising narrative, and handle shareholder communications
- Drive rigorous monthly close, statutory reporting, tax planning, and external audit coordination
- Establish financial controls, governance frameworks, and risk management aligned with investor expectations
- Lead evaluation and financial modelling of new event opportunities, partnerships, and potential acquisitions
- Manage cash flow, banking relationships, working capital, and balance sheet strategy across seasonal trading patterns
What we are looking for

- Proven track record leading finance teams and building scalable processes and systems
- Strong grasp of P&L management, revenue recognition, and working capital in project or event-based businesses
- Experience working with institutional investors, PE firms, or boards at growth-stage companies
- Comfortable with ambiguity and able to operate without a large inherited finance infrastructure
