About the Role

Harper May is partnering with a specialist accounting and reporting technology business serving the media and entertainment industries, based in central London. The business has built a distinctive position combining proprietary software with deep domain expertise, and works with a growing client base of publishers, labels, rights holders and other industry participants. Following a period of strong commercial momentum and continued platform investment, the leadership team is now appointing a Head of Finance to take ownership of the finance function, partner closely with the executive on the commercial agenda, and support the business through its next stage of growth.

The Role
Reporting to the CEO, the Head of Finance will own the day-to-day running of the finance function, lead a small in-house team, and partner with the leadership on commercial, operational, and strategic decisions. The role blends hands-on operational delivery with the wider judgement needed to support a growing technology-led business, and offers real scope to shape the function over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the month-end close and produce timely, accurate management accounts and board reporting
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow management across the business
  • Strengthen financial controls, governance, and reporting under UK GAAP
  • Partner with the CEO and leadership on commercial decisions, pricing, and unit economics
  • Manage the external audit and statutory reporting relationships
  • Develop the finance team and build the systems and processes to support continued growth
  • Support the business on any capital events, funding rounds, or strategic partnerships

What we are looking for

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with significant post-qualification experience
  • Prior experience in a technology, SaaS, media, or professional services business
  • Strong technical accounting foundation with confidence in UK GAAP and multi-entity reporting
  • Commercially minded, comfortable partnering with founders and non-finance leaders
  • Hands-on and practical, happy to work close to the detail in a small team
  • Track record of building or shaping a finance function through a period of growth
