About the Role

Harper May is working with a founder-led retail group operating across physical stores and a growing direct-to-consumer channel. The business has expanded steadily over the past three years and is now scaling its supply chain and logistics capabilities. With recent investment in systems and processes, the finance function is being strengthened to support this growth and improve visibility across the operation.

The Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will own the preparation and analysis of monthly management accounts, supported by detailed commentary on trading performance, cost movements, and cash position. You will be the bridge between the finance team and the wider business, translating numbers into insight that helps commercial and operational leaders make decisions. This is a hands-on role suited to a qualified or part-qualified accountant who thrives in a dynamic environment and wants genuine commercial exposure.

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow analysis
  • Deliver variance analysis against budget and prior year, with clear explanation of drivers
  • Monitor and report on store-level profitability, gross margin, and operating costs
  • Support annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting processes
  • Manage working capital reporting, including debtors, creditors, and inventory reconciliations
  • Build and maintain financial models and reporting dashboards
  • Work with operations and buying teams to understand business drivers and validate forecasts

What we are looking for

  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified or part-qualified
  • 2-4 years experience in a retail, wholesale, or multi-site trading environment
  • Strong Excel capability and comfort with financial modelling
  • Solid grounding in management accounting principles and month-end processes
  • Ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance audiences without jargon
  • Self-motivated, methodical, and comfortable working under pressure during close periods
