Management Accountant

Harper May is working with a London-based asset manager that manages funds across multiple strategies and geographies. The firm has grown substantially over the past three years through organic expansion and selective fund launches, and operates within a tightly regulated environment. With an increasing portfolio of client-facing reporting requirements and a maturing finance function, the business is now strengthening its management accounting capability to support faster decision-making and deeper financial control.

The Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will own the month-end close process, prepare accurate management accounts with commentary, and support the finance team in delivering reliable performance data to investment and operational stakeholders. This is a hands-on role with scope to influence how financial information flows through the organisation.

• Close the monthly accounts, reconcile key balance sheet items, and ensure all transactions are recorded accurately
• Produce management accounts and supporting analysis, with clear explanations of variances and trends
• Support annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting cycles across fund management and operations
• Assist with regulatory reporting and audit preparation, liaising with external auditors as needed
• Monitor cash flow forecasts and support working capital planning
• Identify gaps in reporting processes and recommend improvements to controls and systems

What we are looking for

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) or demonstrable equivalent experience in a finance role
• Prior exposure to asset management, fund administration, or regulated financial services
• Solid grounding in management accounting, balance sheet reconciliation, and financial analysis
• Comfortable with Excel and able to produce clear, well-structured reports
• Methodical approach to detail with the ability to prioritise when workload peaks
• Straightforward communicator who can explain financial information to non-finance colleagues
