About the Role

Harper May is working with a growing financial services firm backed by experienced institutional investors. The business has built strong momentum in recent years, expanded its client base, and is now at a point where financial governance and strategic capability need to step up to match the pace of growth. They are seeking a Finance Director to lead the finance function, set the agenda for financial planning and control, and work closely with executive leadership on capital allocation and risk oversight.

The Role
You will report directly to the Managing Director and sit at the executive table. The Finance Director role spans financial strategy, operational efficiency, and Board-level insight. You'll own the end-to-end finance agenda-from planning and reporting through to audit readiness and stakeholder management-while building and leading a growing finance team in a fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shape and execute financial strategy in line with the firm's growth plan and investor expectations
  • Build and own the annual planning cycle, rolling forecasts, and quarterly performance reporting
  • Establish and maintain robust financial controls, compliance, and governance frameworks
  • Manage balance sheet activity, working capital, and liquidity to support operational and strategic needs
  • Lead statutory and regulatory reporting, audit coordination, and external stakeholder relationships
  • Support M&A and capital project evaluation through rigorous financial analysis
  • Recruit, develop, and lead the finance team to deliver timely, accurate insight

What we are looking for

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with at least seven years in senior finance roles
  • Demonstrated experience in financial services, asset management, or other regulated sectors
  • Comfort with balance sheet management, cash flow analysis, and regulatory compliance
  • Board-level exposure and the confidence to challenge and advise at senior level
  • Team leadership track record with the ability to build capability in a growing business
  • Clear communicator who can distil complexity for non-finance stakeholders
