About the Role
Harper May is working with a London-based technology business that has moved beyond its early-stage phase and is now scaling operations across product, platform, and international markets. Founded eight years ago and backed by growth-stage investment, the business has built strong product-market fit and is now investing in the infrastructure to support accelerated expansion. Finance has historically been lean and founder-led; as the organisation matures, there is a clear need to embed more rigour into cost management, cash forecasting, and monthly close processes. The business is now seeking a Finance Manager to take ownership of core financial operations and reporting.
The Role
Reporting to the Finance Director, you will manage month-end close, statutory reporting, and financial controls across the business. The role sits at the intersection of accounting discipline and commercial insight, working closely with operational and senior leadership teams to translate financial data into actionable insight and maintain audit readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, including journal posting, reconciliations, and balance sheet management
- Produce management accounts, variance analysis, and commentary on financial performance for board and stakeholder reporting
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions; liaise with external auditors on compliance and control matters
- Support annual budgeting and quarterly forecast cycles; build and maintain financial models for scenario planning
- Identify and implement process improvements across finance systems and controls to support the scaling business
- Work with commercial and operational teams to provide cost transparency and support capital allocation decisions
What we are looking for
- ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified, or demonstrable experience in a similar finance operations or management accounting role
- Proven track record in month-end close, statutory reporting, and financial controls in a scaling or multi-site environment
- Strong proficiency in Excel, financial reporting systems, and data analysis; familiarity with cloud accounting platforms is an advantage
- Clear communicator capable of translating technical financial information for non-finance audiences
- Organised, methodical, and comfortable managing competing priorities in a fast-moving organisation
