About the Role

Harper May is working with a founder-led B2B software company that has achieved £15m+ ARR and is backed by tier-one venture capital. The business serves enterprise clients across multiple geographies and is now at the inflection point where finance needs to mature alongside operations. With significant growth ambitions, a planned Series B in the next 18 months, and an expanding operational footprint, the company requires stronger financial rigour and strategic planning capability. They are now seeking a Chief Financial Officer to build and lead this function from the ground up.

The Role
Reporting directly to the CEO and participating in Board meetings, you will own all aspects of financial leadership and strategy. This is a hands-on role combining control, planning, and decision support with the visibility and influence that comes with a seat at the executive table. You will shape how the business thinks about capital allocation, profitability, and unit economics as it scales.

  • Build and lead a finance team from a small base, setting standards and developing capability
  • Establish robust financial planning, forecasting, and management accounting frameworks appropriate for a scaling SaaS business
  • Manage fundraising processes, investor relations, and capital structure planning ahead of Series B
  • Oversee statutory accounts, tax planning, and audit engagement with external advisers
  • Provide commercial insight on customer economics, pricing strategy, and operational performance
  • Own budgeting, cash management, and working capital optimisation across the business

What we are looking for

  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified with proven CFO or senior finance director experience in a technology or SaaS environment
  • Track record of scaling financial function and managing successful fundraising rounds
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge combined with genuine commercial judgement and business acumen
  • Ability to operate effectively with founders and investors, communicating complex financial concepts with clarity
  • Comfortable building systems and process from scratch; hands-on approach to problem-solving and team development
