About the Role

Harper May is working with a founder-led SaaS business that has reached £15m ARR and is preparing for the next phase of expansion. The company has established a strong product-market fit and is now moving into new verticals and geographies, requiring increased financial rigour around investment prioritisation, unit economics, and operational scaling. The business is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to build and lead the finance function from the ground up.

The Role
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, the Chief Financial Officer will own all aspects of financial leadership and sit as an executive partner on strategy and decision-making. This is a hands-on appointment combining high-level financial stewardship with direct involvement in FP&A, cash management, and the build of a scalable finance infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and own the financial strategy, including pricing models, unit economics analysis, and profitability roadmaps
  • Build internal FP&A capability from the ground up, establishing forecasting, scenario planning, and monthly performance reporting
  • Manage cash flow, working capital, and balance sheet health across a growing operational footprint
  • Lead fundraising and investor engagement processes, including due diligence and shareholder reporting
  • Establish financial controls, governance frameworks, and systems architecture fit for scale
  • Recruit and develop a finance team, setting standards for accuracy and insight delivery
  • Partner with product and commercial teams on go-to-market financial modelling and ROI analysis

What we are looking for

  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified with prior CFO or senior FD experience
  • Track record in a SaaS, technology, or venture-backed environment
  • Proven ability to build finance functions and embed strong processes in high-growth businesses
  • Commercial mindset with confidence around strategic financial modelling and investment decisions
  • Experience managing investor relationships and navigating funding rounds
  • Comfortable taking ownership in a relatively lean environment with minimal finance infrastructure in place
