About the Role

Harper May is working with an independent entertainment production company that creates content across film, television, and digital platforms. The business has grown substantially over the past three years and is now scaling its operational and financial infrastructure to support expanded production activity and international distribution. They are now seeking a Management Accountant to strengthen their finance function and provide deeper cost visibility across their production slate.

The Role
You will report to the Finance Director and own the day-to-day management accounts function. The role sits at a critical point in the business: entertainment production is capital-intensive and time-sensitive, and your work will directly inform how the business allocates resources, tracks project profitability, and manages cash. You will work across multiple production teams and commercial stakeholders, translating complex operational activity into clear financial narratives.

  • Prepare and own monthly management accounts, variance analysis, and financial commentary for senior leadership
  • Build and maintain project-level costing models for active production activity
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets and track spend against plan throughout the production cycle
  • Conduct cost analysis across production workflows to identify efficiency gains and cost drivers
  • Support annual budget and three-year forecast cycles with detailed build-ups by project and function
  • Create performance dashboards and reports that track key metrics across production and commercial teams
  • Lead process improvements to financial controls and reporting systems as the business scales

What we are looking for

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) or part-qualified with clear progression toward qualification
  • 3–5 years' experience in a management accounting or controllership role, ideally in a production, media, or creative business
  • Proficiency in financial modelling, multi-dimensional analysis, and variance reporting
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial reporting or ERP systems
  • Ability to communicate financial complexity to non-finance teams without condescension
  • Organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable working to tight deadlines in a collaborative environment
