Management Accountant
Meet Our Recruiter
About the Role
Harper May is working with a founder-led technology business that has grown to around 80 people over the past four years. The company builds software tools for enterprise clients and is in the midst of a scaling phase, having recently closed a Series A round. As the business matures, finance is moving from transactional to strategic - the leadership team recognises that better cost visibility and commercial reporting will be critical to disciplined growth. They are now seeking a Management Accountant to build out this capability.
The Role
You will report to the Finance Director and own the design and delivery of monthly management accounts. Working across product lines, customer segments, and operating cost centres, you'll become the trusted source of financial insight for the business, supporting investment decisions, margin analysis, and operational planning. This is a hands-on role with real scope - you will build the reporting framework from the ground up rather than inherit an established process.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver monthly management accounts with clear explanations of financial performance and variance
- Build and maintain financial models to support scenario planning and budget forecasting
- Work with product and sales teams to track customer economics, unit costs, and revenue quality
- Support cash flow management and working capital monitoring
- Lead month-end close processes and reconciliations across the general ledger
- Prepare analysis and commentary to support board-level decision-making
- Identify and drive improvements to financial systems, reporting tools, and processes
What we are looking for
- ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified, or part-qualified with demonstrable progress
- Two to four years of post-qualification experience in management or management reporting roles
- Familiarity with technology, SaaS, or other scaling business environments
- Proficiency in Excel and comfort with financial data analysis and modelling
- Clear communicator who can explain financial information to non-finance colleagues
- Pragmatic problem-solver who takes ownership and works well under deadline pressure
