Finance Manager

Harper May is working with a founder-led media and events group that has built a strong portfolio of live conferences, digital content platforms, and branded experiences. The business is now at a point where cash generation and event complexity demand more rigorous financial discipline. They are seeking a Finance Manager to embed proper controls, deliver clear reporting, and give the leadership team the commercial visibility they need to scale sustainably.

The Role
Reporting to the Finance Director, you will manage the full cycle of financial operations: month-end close, statutory requirements, and all ad-hoc reporting that keeps decision-making sharp. You will sit at the intersection of finance and operations, translating commercial performance across conferences, content, and partnerships into numbers that make sense to the wider team. This is a hands-on role in a business where things move fast and finance needs to keep pace.

• Execute month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timeliness and accuracy
• Prepare and maintain annual budgets and rolling forecasts aligned to business strategy
• Monitor cash flow, working capital, and event-level profitability in real time
• Build and maintain financial models to support pricing, margin, and project decisions
• Conduct bank reconciliations, balance sheet reviews, and general ledger maintenance
• Liaise with auditors and support compliance, tax, and regulatory obligations
• Identify process improvements and recommend finance system enhancements as the business grows

What we are looking for

• ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified, or equivalent experience in financial management
• Track record in a dynamic, project-heavy or events-based business
• Solid technical accounting knowledge and confident with management reporting
• Commercial judgment-able to support operational teams with financial insight, not just process
• Strong Excel and proficiency with accounting software
• Clear communicator who thrives in a collaborative, fast-moving environment
