About the Role

Harper May is working with an established entertainment production and distribution company that has scaled significantly over the past three years through organic growth and strategic acquisitions. The business operates across content creation, licensing, and commercial partnerships, and is now investing in its finance infrastructure to support tighter cost control, operational accountability, and internal reporting. They are seeking a Management Accountant to strengthen the finance team and build out their management reporting capability.

The Role
The Management Accountant will report to the Finance Manager and own the day-to-day delivery of management accounts, statutory reporting, and operational financial analysis. This is a new role created because the business has reached a scale where robust, timely internal reporting has become critical to decision-making across production, distribution, and corporate functions.

  • Prepare monthly management accounts and variance analysis against budget and prior year
  • Build and maintain financial models to forecast cash flow, project costs, and evaluate production economics
  • Own the month-end close process, including reconciliations, accruals, and inter-company adjustments
  • Support annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting across all business units
  • Produce management reports and KPI dashboards for weekly and monthly board meetings
  • Work with operations and production teams to establish cost controls and drive financial visibility

What we are looking for

  • Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with 2-4 years' post-qualification experience
  • Proven experience preparing management accounts and leading month-end close processes
  • Advanced Excel skills and comfort with financial modelling and pivot tables
  • Prior exposure to entertainment, media, production, or similar project-based businesses (preferred but not essential)
  • Clear, structured communicator who can translate numbers into insight for operational leaders
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and changing priorities
