About the Role

Harper May is working with a content and experiences business that sits at the intersection of digital media, partnerships, and live events. With a growing portfolio of high-profile programming and a strong commercial platform behind it, the company is continuing to expand its reach through new event formats, brand collaborations, and digital channels. As the business scales, they are seeking a Finance Director to strengthen financial leadership, improve control, and support confident decision-making across multiple revenue streams.

The Role
Reporting to the CEO and working closely with senior stakeholders, the Finance Director will take ownership of the company’s finance function and play a central role in shaping commercial strategy. This is a broad role combining strategic planning with hands-on oversight, supporting performance across events and content delivery while ensuring financial governance keeps pace with growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the financial strategy, supporting sustainable growth across media and events activities

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO, providing insight and challenge on commercial performance

  • Own budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management across multiple revenue streams

  • Partner with operational and commercial teams on event profitability, pricing, and cost control

  • Oversee management reporting, financial analysis, and performance insight

  • Build and develop the finance team, embedding robust processes and accountability

  • Ensure strong financial controls, governance, and scalable reporting structures

  • Lead statutory reporting, audit processes, and compliance with accounting standards

  • Manage tax planning and ensure adherence to all regulatory obligations

Candidate Profile

  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified, with senior finance leadership experience

  • Background in media, events, publishing, or project-led, consumer-facing businesses

  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance creativity and financial discipline

  • Confident communicator with experience working at leadership and Board level

  • Proven track record of leading finance functions in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments

  • Hands-on approach with strong financial modelling and systems capability

  • Experience supporting multi-project or multi-revenue business models is highly desirable
