About the Role

Harper May is working with a fast-growing multi-channel retailer headquartered in central London, operating across both online and a network of physical stores in the UK. The business has scaled significantly over the past three years, expanded its product range, and built a reputation for the quality of its merchandising and customer experience. With strong momentum across new store openings and continued investment in digital, the finance team is being expanded and they are now seeking a Management Accountant to support reporting, controls, and commercial insight as the business continues to grow.

The Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Management Accountant will own month-end close for the trading entities, partner with the buying and merchandising teams on margin analysis, and support the broader finance team on reporting and controls. It is a hands-on role suited to someone who wants exposure to commercial decision-making within a fast-paced retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run the monthly close for the trading entities and produce management accounts with commentary
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, and journal entries
  • Support gross margin analysis and partner with buying teams on product profitability
  • Maintain the integrity of the GL and assist with intercompany and group consolidations
  • Help prepare the year-end audit file and respond to auditor queries
  • Identify opportunities to improve and automate close-cycle processes

What we are looking for

  • Part-qualified or finalist (ACCA, CIMA, or ACA) with 2+ years of accounting experience
  • Prior experience within retail, e-commerce, or another fast-paced consumer business
  • Strong Excel skills; exposure to NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar ERP is a plus
  • Numerate, commercial, and comfortable working to month-end deadlines
  • Study support available; appetite to keep developing technical and commercial skills
