About the Role

Harper May is working with an established property and construction business that has grown steadily over the past five years through a mix of residential and commercial projects. The firm has expanded its development pipeline and is now looking to strengthen its financial controls and reporting infrastructure. They are now seeking a Management Accountant to join their finance team and support the business through this growth phase.

The Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting project profitability analysis, and ensuring timely reporting across the portfolio. This role exists because the business is moving towards more structured financial controls and needs someone who can work closely with site teams and senior leadership to deliver reliable numbers each month.

  • Produce monthly accounts with clear variance reporting and commentary
  • Manage project ledgers, track costs against budgets, and flag overruns early
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts and support working capital planning
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and maintain supporting documentation
  • Support the audit process and contribute to year-end financial statements
  • Work with project managers to understand cost drivers and improve forecasting accuracy

What we are looking for

  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified, or working towards a qualification
  • Hands-on experience in construction, property development, or contract costing
  • Solid grasp of cost accounting principles and project-based financial management
  • Proficiency in Excel and comfort with accounting software
  • Able to work methodically under deadline and communicate findings clearly to non-finance colleagues
