Management Accountant

Harper May is working with a growing asset management business managing over £2bn in assets under administration. The firm operates across multiple investment strategies with a client base of institutional and high-net-worth investors. Following recent expansion in the investment team and tighter regulatory requirements around reporting, the business is now strengthening its finance function and seeking a Management Accountant to embed better financial control and insight across the organisation.

The Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will own the production and analysis of management accounts, ensure compliance with internal financial policies and external regulatory obligations, and provide finance business partnering to the investment and operations teams. This is a hands-on role with direct exposure to senior leadership and board-level reporting.

• Produce monthly management accounts with clear variance reporting and narrative commentary
• Build and maintain financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, and scenario analysis
• Reconcile and validate general ledger balances and balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis
• Support preparation of regulatory reporting packs and liaise with external auditors during audit cycles
• Monitor departmental and project-level spend against approved budgets and highlight exceptions
• Document and improve core financial processes and internal control procedures

What we are looking for

• ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified, or part-qualified with demonstrated commitment to completion
• Prior experience in asset management, investment operations, or a compliance-heavy financial services setting
• Solid grasp of IFRS and FCA reporting frameworks
• Proficiency with Excel, pivot tables, and financial modelling; experience with accounting software a plus
• Methodical approach to accuracy; comfortable managing multiple deadlines and stakeholder expectations
