About the Role

```html
Harper May is working with a London-based SaaS business that has built a strong market position in enterprise software over the past six years. Founded by a technical team and now backed by early-stage investors, the company has moved beyond product-market fit and is scaling deliberately across customer acquisition, retention, and platform expansion. Current revenue growth and increasing complexity across operations, compliance, and stakeholder management mean the finance function needs reinforcement at leadership level. The business is now seeking a Head of Finance to establish rigorous financial discipline and provide the commercial insight needed to guide the next phase of growth.
The Role
Reporting to the CEO, you will own the finance function end-to-end. You will build and lead a small team, establish clear reporting and control structures, and act as a strategic partner to the leadership group on unit economics, cash runway, and capital allocation decisions. The role carries real operational responsibility - hands-on involvement in systems, processes, and people - as well as board-level visibility and input into product investment and go-to-market strategy.
  • Build and manage the finance team and external advisers (accountants, auditors, tax consultants)
  • Establish monthly management accounts with clear variance analysis and commercial narrative
  • Own cash flow forecasting, working capital management, and financial planning cycles
  • Develop and monitor KPIs across customer acquisition cost, lifetime value, unit economics, and payback
  • Lead statutory accounts, audit, tax compliance, and financial governance
  • Partner with the leadership team on pricing strategy, investment decisions, and fundraising readiness
What we are looking for
  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified, or equivalent demonstrable financial leadership track record
  • 5+ years as a finance leader in technology, SaaS, or venture-backed businesses
  • Practical experience with financial systems, reporting automation, and process design
  • Genuine interest in commercial drivers - customer metrics, pricing, margin, and growth economics
  • Ability to communicate clearly with non-finance stakeholders and translate data into insight
  • Comfort operating in a lean environment where you shape capability as you build it
