About the Role

Harper May is working with a founder-led consumer non-durables business that has built strong market position through direct-to-consumer channels and selective retail partnerships. The company has grown steadily over the past five years and is now scaling operations across new geographies and product categories. With recent expansion into continental Europe and investment in supply chain infrastructure, the business is now strengthening its finance capability and seeking a Head of Finance to embed rigour and insight at the core of decision-making.

The Role
Reporting to the Managing Director, you will lead all financial strategy, planning, and reporting across the group. This role sits at the heart of the business-balancing tight cost control with investment in growth, and ensuring the finance function provides the clarity and foresight needed to manage complexity as the company scales.

You will establish robust financial planning frameworks, build visibility into channel and product profitability, and create reporting that drives commercial conversations. You'll challenge assumptions, identify risks, and partner with operations and commercial teams to protect margins while funding expansion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and own the annual budget and rolling forecast process, with clear accountability for accuracy and commercial insight
  • Build management reporting that isolates true profit by channel, product line, and geography
  • Lead working capital, cash flow, and treasury management across an increasingly complex supply chain
  • Partner with operations and procurement to benchmark costs and identify structural savings opportunities
  • Support strategic initiatives including new market entry, product range expansion, and supply chain optimisation
  • Establish financial controls and governance frameworks appropriate to a scaling business
  • Build and mentor a growing finance team

What we are looking for

  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified with 7-10 years in senior finance roles
  • Direct experience in consumer goods, retail, or logistics-or similar high-volume, multi-channel environments
  • Strong working knowledge of financial systems and ability to extract insight from data
  • Proven capability to build teams and develop finance capability in a growing business
  • Commercial mindset-comfortable holding non-finance leaders to account and speaking with clarity in the boardroom
  • Comfort with pace, change, and ambiguity in a scaling operation
