Meet Our Recruiter
About the Role
Harper May is working with a London-headquartered financial services firm backed by growth equity investment. The business has scaled steadily over the past three years, diversifying its product range and expanding its client base across multiple asset classes. As the organisation moves into a new phase of strategic development, the finance function needs to evolve its analytical capability. They are now seeking an FP&A Manager to build deeper commercial insight and strengthen decision support across the business.
The Role
Reporting to the Finance Director, you will own the end-to-end planning cycle, including annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and ad hoc scenario modelling. You will provide senior leadership and the board with clear, timely analysis on financial performance, profitability drivers, and business trajectory. This is a role that sits at the intersection of operational delivery and strategic planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute annual budget and quarterly forecasting processes, ensuring consistency and accuracy across the business
- Build and maintain financial models for scenario testing, business case evaluation, and what-if analysis
- Produce monthly and ad hoc reporting with variance analysis, explaining performance against plan and highlighting emerging trends
- Analyse profitability and revenue drivers by product line, client segment, and cost centre to support operational and commercial decisions
- Challenge assumptions and provide insight to senior stakeholders; distil complex data into clear, actionable recommendations
- Streamline FP&A processes and reporting output; identify opportunities to improve forecasting discipline and data integrity
- Support M&A evaluation and strategic initiatives with financial analysis and due diligence support
What we are looking for
- ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified, or equivalent professional financial background
- 3+ years in FP&A or commercial finance, ideally in financial services or a regulated environment
- Proficiency in Excel and financial modelling; exposure to ERP systems or FP&A software a plus
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-finance stakeholders and board-level audiences
- Methodical, detail-oriented approach with comfort operating under tight deadlines and regulatory scrutiny
- Self-directed problem-solver who takes ownership of process improvement and data quality
