About the Role

Financial Controller - Financial Services Company

Our client is a visionary financial services company providing an innovative service, specifically in the lending space. Providing bridging loans and short-term property finance, focused on helping SME property professionals and developers across the UK. They are experiencing an exciting growth phase and are looking for a dynamic Financial Controller to join their Team. In this role, you will be working alongside the CFO and Directors providing all essential financial information, and assistance where required.

 Key Responsibilities for the Financial Controller:

  • Accounts Receivable: Invoicing, cash collection and credit control ensuring we invoice on a timely and accurate basis and receive funds on time.
  • Accounts Payable: Recording and coding of supplier invoices ensuring they are paid on time following the appropriate approvals. Management of the Employee Expenses process as well as commissions reporting.
  • Cash and Bank: Ensuring all transactions are recorded on a timely and accurate basis to ensure bank reconciliations are performed swiftly at Month End.
  • Assistance with the preparation of loan completion statements, redemption statement and support of the investor reporting function.
  • Deal Flow: Tracking all deals and keeping our invoicing schedule up to date. This is an integral function which will include assistance in preparing management information as part of our weekly reporting to senior stakeholders in the business.
  • Functional reporting – working with Directors to deliver meaningful reports for decision making
  • Ad-hoc reporting – as required
  • Collaborate with other business stakeholders to transform and define new processes
  • Deal Assistance: ad-hoc assistance in preparing a term sheet and cashflow forecasting for the Team for financial analysis.

Desired Skills and Experience: 

  • Qualified Accountant, preferably ACA or ACCA
  • At Least 5 Years’ Experience in Accounting, Finance, business management, or similar.
  • Background of working in a Finance business and/or professional services
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Good knowledge and experience with Xero Accounting Software
  • Good understanding of UK accounting legislation such as UK FRS, VAT, payroll, and Corporation tax
  • Ability to adapt to new technology to assist with collating all of our financial data into accurate financial reports for the Directors to review.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills to evaluate information from multiple sources.
  • Flexibility and the ability to manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines while delivering high quality work in a dynamic environment are essential.
  • Strong presentation, documentation, influencing, and interpersonal skills as well as a collaborative approach.
  • Able to work effectively with all levels and cultures in the organisation. Must be able to work with and through others.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint).
