About the Role

Harper May is working with a London-based consumer non-durables manufacturer with a strong market position and a growing portfolio of branded products across multiple retail channels. The business is privately owned, operationally lean, and has achieved consistent growth over the past three years through disciplined cost management and strategic product innovation. The finance function has been run on a lean footing, and as the business scales and complexity increases, the leadership team recognises the need for a Finance Director who can embed stronger financial discipline while enabling commercial growth. They are now seeking a Finance Director to join the executive team and lead the finance function through this next phase.

The Role
Reporting to the CEO, you will take full ownership of finance, tax, and treasury across the organisation. This is a commercial leadership role with real P&L influence. You will be accountable for financial planning, management reporting, and cash stewardship, and will work closely with operations, sales, and supply chain to improve profitability and operational efficiency.

  • Build and deliver a three-year financial plan aligned to business growth targets and Board expectations
  • Own monthly and quarterly reporting, variance analysis, and forecasting across the business
  • Lead working capital optimisation, cash flow management, and inventory control
  • Partner with operations and commercial leadership to identify and drive cost and efficiency improvements
  • Establish robust financial controls, systems infrastructure, and governance frameworks
  • Manage tax, audit, and regulatory compliance
  • Build and lead a growing finance team

What we are looking for

  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified with 8+ years in senior finance roles
  • Direct experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or product-led businesses
  • Proven track record in cost management, process improvement, and operational efficiency
  • Comfortable working hands-on while thinking strategically; able to move between detail and the bigger picture
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence without authority
