About the Role

Harper May is working with a specialist financial services firm headquartered in London, providing investment management and advisory services to private clients, family offices, and institutional investors. The business has grown materially over the last five years, opened new locations across the UK, and built a reputation for the quality of its investment thinking and the strength of its client relationships. With an ambitious strategic plan for the next phase — including expansion of its discretionary book and selective acquisitions — the executive team is now looking to strengthen finance at director level and appoint a Finance Director to lead the function through what comes next.

The Role
Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the board, the Finance Director will own the finance function end-to-end — reporting, control, planning, and treasury. The role is a mix of executive contribution at board level and direct ownership of the finance team. It suits someone who has done this before and is comfortable being the most senior finance voice in the room.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the finance team across financial control, FP&A, and treasury
  • Own monthly and quarterly board reporting, with KPI commentary the board can act on
  • Manage the audit relationship and ensure compliance with FCA reporting requirements
  • Drive the annual budget and three-year strategic plan
  • Partner with the CEO on capital structure, fundraising, and investor reporting
  • Strengthen financial controls, internal processes, and team capability

What we are looking for

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with 10+ years post-qualification experience
  • Prior experience as a Finance Director or Head of Finance within financial services
  • Track record of working with regulators (FCA preferred) and external auditors
  • Strong commercial instincts — comfortable in board conversations about growth and strategy
  • A genuine leader of people, not just a technical accountant

Salary: £112,500 - £125,000 plus bonus and benefits. London-based. To apply, send your CV via the link below.
