About the Role

Harper May is working with a fast-growing SaaS business that has raised growth funding over the past 18 months and is now scaling its go-to-market operations across Europe. The business operates in a competitive vertical and has moved from startup-mode cost tracking into a phase where financial rigour is critical - understanding unit economics, forecasting cash flow accurately, and building the reporting discipline that investors expect. The finance function is small and lean, and the business is now seeking a Finance Manager to bring structure, depth, and reliability to its financial operations and planning.

The Role
You will report to the CFO and take ownership of core accounting, monthly close, and financial planning for the business. This is a hands-on role with real breadth - you will manage the month-end cycle, build and maintain forecasting models, support board reporting, and work closely with the founding team and operational leaders to ensure financial decisions are grounded in clear data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the monthly close process, including reconciliations, journal entries, and management accounts
  • Build and maintain rolling forecasts and cash flow projections for 12-24 months ahead
  • Prepare board-level financial reporting, highlighting variances and business trends
  • Support financial planning for product launches, headcount, and capital spend decisions
  • Maintain the general ledger, manage balance sheet items, and ensure compliance with accounting standards
  • Work with founders and operational teams on budgeting, cost control, and investment prioritisation
  • Identify process improvements and build financial systems and controls as the business scales

What we are looking for

  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified, or equivalent experience in a similar accounting or finance operations role
  • At least 3-5 years in mid-market or growth-stage finance, ideally in technology, SaaS, or subscription business models
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and confidence running a complete month-end process
  • Excellent Excel and financial modelling skills; experience with accounting software and BI tools is a plus
  • Able to translate numbers into clear narratives for non-finance stakeholders
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a lean environment where you own outcomes end-to-end
