Finance Analyst

Harper May is working with a London-based retail group that operates across physical stores and a growing direct-to-consumer channel. The business is backed by experienced retail operators and has scaled consistently over the past three years through organic growth and selective expansion. As the finance function matures, they are strengthening their management accounting capability to support increasingly complex multi-channel operations.

The Role
Reporting to the Finance Director, you will be responsible for building and maintaining the management accounts, delivering insight into operational and commercial performance across the group. This role sits at the heart of the finance function - you will own the monthly close cycle, support strategic planning, and provide the analysis that informs key business decisions.

• Prepare and own monthly management accounts with clear variance reporting and commentary
• Analyse profitability by store, channel, and product category
• Support cash flow forecasting and working capital management
• Build and refine financial models to support planning and scenario analysis
• Monitor KPIs including inventory turnover, shrinkage, and cost control
• Lead reconciliations and balance sheet reviews, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Partner with operational teams to translate financial data into actionable insight

What we are looking for

• ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualified or at an advanced stage of study
• Proven experience in a management accounting or commercial finance role, ideally within retail or multi-site operations
• Advanced Excel proficiency and experience building financial models
• Strong grasp of P&L, working capital, and the mechanics of retail accounting
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
• Self-directed, methodical, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-moving environment
