About the Role

Harper May is working with a founder-led property and construction business managing a portfolio of commercial and residential projects across London and the South East. The firm has grown steadily over the past five years and is now at a stage where it needs to scale its finance function to support expanding operational complexity and investor reporting demands. They are now seeking a Finance Analyst to join their team.

The Role
Reporting to the Finance Director, you will own financial analysis and reporting across the project portfolio, with direct visibility into deal performance, funding positions, and cash requirements. This role sits at the intersection of finance and operations, working closely with project managers, senior leadership, and external stakeholders to translate numbers into actionable insight.

  • Prepare and own project-level P&Ls, variance analysis, and performance reports on a monthly cycle
  • Track WIP, accrued costs, and profitability across live developments
  • Build and maintain financial forecasts and cash flow models for projects at different lifecycle stages
  • Monitor budget compliance and flag cost overruns or scope changes early
  • Support funding requirements analysis and investor reporting packs
  • Work with operations teams to improve data quality and financial control points
  • Contribute to year-end close and audit preparation

What we are looking for

  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified, or working towards qualification
  • Hands-on experience in property development, construction finance, or a similarly project-driven sector
  • Solid grasp of project accounting, retention clauses, and development cash flow cycles
  • Proficiency in Excel and the ability to build reliable financial models
  • An analytical mindset paired with the communication skills to explain financial outcomes to non-finance stakeholders
  • Organised and methodical, comfortable managing competing priorities in a growing business
