Meet Our Recruiter
About the Role
Harper May is working with a London-based financial services firm that provides investment and advisory services to institutional clients. The business is mid-market, founder-led, and has expanded substantially over the past three years. A recent capital injection has enabled the team to invest in its finance operations, moving from a lean setup toward more structured capability in planning, reporting, and analytical rigour. The finance function is now strengthening its analytical capacity, and they are seeking a Finance Analyst to help build a more robust platform for business insight and performance management.
The Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Finance Analyst will own core reporting, modelling, and forecasting across the business. You will work on month-end cycles, quarterly planning, and ad-hoc analysis for senior management and the board. This is a hands-on role with real scope - you will be expected to take ownership of deliverables and contribute directly to how the business measures and understands its financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain monthly and quarterly management accounts, with clear variance reporting and narrative
- Support annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting cycles, building and updating financial models
- Analyse profitability, revenue trends, and cost management across business lines
- Develop business cases and scenario analysis to support investment and strategic decisions
- Own balance sheet reconciliation, accruals, and month-end close procedures
- Build and maintain dashboards and reporting tools to improve visibility of key metrics
- Engage with business stakeholders to translate financial questions into workable analysis
What we are looking for
- ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified, or equivalent professional accountancy experience
- 3-5 years of experience in finance roles, ideally within financial services or a similar professional services environment
- Strong Excel and financial modelling skills; familiarity with Power BI or Tableau a plus
- Ability to communicate financial insights clearly to both finance and non-finance audiences
- Methodical and detail-conscious, with the discipline to maintain accuracy under time pressure
- Commercial mindset and genuine curiosity about how the numbers connect to business outcomes
