Chief Financial Officer

Harper May is working with a well-established retail operator backed by experienced management and institutional investors. The business operates across owned and franchise channels, with proven unit economics and a track record of steady market share gains. Recent strategic acquisitions have expanded product depth and geographic reach, and the leadership team is now strengthening the finance function to support disciplined growth and improved capital efficiency across the expanding estate.

The Role
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, you will assume full accountability for financial leadership, strategic planning, and governance. The CFO will partner with the executive team and Board to shape investment decisions, protect operational discipline, and ensure robust reporting as the business scales. This is a hands-on role that balances detail with strategic vision.

• Develop and drive financial strategy, capital allocation, and long-term value creation
• Establish rigorous budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning processes across all channels
• Oversee working capital management, inventory optimization, and cash flow discipline
• Build and lead the finance function, recruiting and developing capable team members
• Lead audit, statutory reporting, tax planning, and regulatory compliance
• Provide board-level insight and challenge on trading performance, return on investment, and strategic initiatives
• Support M&A evaluation and integration planning as the portfolio grows

What we are looking for

• ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified
• Proven CFO or Group Finance Director experience within multi-channel retail or consumer distribution
• Hands-on capability across financial planning, audit, and operational reporting
• Commercial acumen: you understand margin, inventory turns, and cash conversion cycles in a retail context
• Board-ready executive presence and the ability to translate complexity into clear insight
• Track record of building and retaining finance teams
