About the Role

Harper May is partnering with a property development business that is seeking a Finance Director to lead its finance function and support the delivery of its long-term growth strategy. The organisation operates within a project-led environment and is focused on strengthening financial performance, enhancing project visibility, and supporting continued expansion.

The Role

As Finance Director, you will work closely with senior leadership to shape the financial direction of the business, supporting both strategic planning and project delivery. The role will focus on providing commercial insight, managing financial performance across developments, and ensuring the business is well positioned to deliver sustainable growth.

You will act as a key partner to the leadership team, supporting investment decisions, overseeing financial planning, and ensuring strong financial discipline across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the finance function and define the financial strategy for the business
  • Partner with senior leadership to support growth, investment, and business performance
  • Provide financial insight across development projects, supporting profitability and delivery
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning across the portfolio
  • Monitor cash flow, funding requirements, and financial performance across projects
  • Support investment appraisals and development decisions through detailed financial analysis
  • Ensure strong financial controls, governance, and compliance frameworks are in place
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including lenders and advisers
  • Deliver high-quality financial reporting to support strategic decision-making
  • Build and lead a high-performing finance team

Candidate Profile

  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified
  • Proven experience operating at Finance Director level within property development, real estate, or a project-led environment
  • Strong commercial and strategic mindset with the ability to influence business performance
  • Experience supporting investment decisions and managing project-based financial planning
  • Strong understanding of funding structures and financial risk within development environments
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within a growing business
  • Confident working closely with senior stakeholders and contributing to business strategy
