Finance Manager

Harper May is working with a London-based consumer non-durables business backed by experienced founders. The company manufactures and distributes branded products across UK and European retail, with steady organic growth and plans to expand into new categories over the next three years. They have recently strengthened their commercial and operations teams, and are now seeking a Finance Manager to build out their financial control and reporting infrastructure.

The Role
Reporting to the Finance Director, this role owns the month-end close process, management accounts, and day-to-day financial controls. You will drive improvements to the finance function as the business scales, ensuring accuracy and timeliness across reporting and consolidation. The position exists because the current team needs additional capacity to support planned growth and to establish more robust processes across a multi-location operation.

• Produce monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) with supporting commentary and variance analysis.
• Lead the month-end close cycle, reconciliations, and journal control.
• Maintain and document financial policies, accounting standards, and control procedures.
• Review and substantiate balance sheet items and intercompany transactions.
• Liaise with external auditors during year-end and interim reviews.
• Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen financial controls and efficiency.

What we are looking for

• ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified (or equivalent experience-based standard).
• 3+ years in a finance or accounting role with hands-on management reporting and consolidation experience.
• Solid technical knowledge of financial reporting, journal control, and reconciliation disciplines.
• Strong attention to detail and disciplined approach to controls and compliance.
• Comfortable working with ERP systems and spreadsheet-based reporting.
• Collaborative mindset and ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
