About the Role
Harper May is working with a founder-led technology business delivering SaaS solutions to mid-market enterprise clients across Europe. The company has reached £8m ARR and is backed by established angel investors and early-stage venture capital. Revenue growth is consistent, the product roadmap is strong, and the business is now at a point where financial rigour and strategic planning will unlock the next phase of expansion. They are seeking a Finance Director to build and lead financial operations across the organisation.
The Role
Reporting to the CEO, you will take full ownership of financial management, reporting, and planning. This is a hands-on role that combines strategic oversight with day-to-day leadership of the finance function. You will work closely with the leadership team on commercial planning, investor relations, and capital allocation to support sustainable growth.
- Build and lead the finance team; establish processes and controls to support a scaling business
- Own annual budgeting, monthly forecasting, and cash flow projections
- Prepare management accounts, statutory accounts, and investor reporting
- Partner with the CEO and commercial leads on pricing, unit economics, and go-to-market decisions
- Lead capital planning and manage relationships with existing investors and lenders
- Ensure financial governance, compliance with accounting standards, and audit readiness
- Drive financial insight into product and customer profitability to inform strategy
What we are looking for
- ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified with at least 8 years in finance roles
- Proven experience as Finance Director or equivalent in a scaling SaaS or technology business
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and comfort with financial reporting and audit
- Commercial mindset with experience in investor-backed environments
- Ability to communicate clearly with non-finance stakeholders and board-level audiences
- Collaborative leadership style with appetite for hands-on involvement in a smaller team
