Finance Director

Harper May is working with a founder-led financial services firm that has built a strong reputation in its market segment and is now at a pivotal growth phase. The business has scaled profitably and is expanding its product range and client base, which has created demand for enhanced financial leadership and infrastructure. They are now seeking a Finance Director to shape financial strategy, strengthen control frameworks, and drive confident decision-making across the executive team.

The Role
Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Finance Director will own the full finance function and partner closely with the leadership team to embed financial discipline and strategic clarity. This is a hands-on role that combines board-level input with direct operational oversight, bringing order and clarity to financial planning, reporting, and governance as the firm scales.

• Build and lead the financial strategy roadmap, aligned with business growth ambitions
• Establish robust budgeting, forecasting, and working capital management processes
• Provide financial insight and constructive challenge to the CEO and executive team
• Oversee statutory reporting, tax compliance, and relationships with auditors and advisers
• Design and implement financial controls, governance, and risk management frameworks appropriate to the scale and regulatory environment
• Lead and develop the finance team, building capability as the business grows
• Take ownership of capital planning and balance sheet management

What we are looking for

• ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified, with substantial senior finance experience
• Proven track record in a financial services or regulated environment
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and practical regulatory experience
• Board-level exposure and the ability to communicate clearly with non-financial stakeholders
• Genuine interest in building finance capability and mentoring others
• Commercially grounded, with real focus on control and operational efficiency
