About the Role

Harper May is working with a founder-led financial services firm that has scaled to approximately £50 million in AUM over the past six years. The business is independently owned, profitable, and now at an inflection point: expansion into new markets, a strengthened technology infrastructure, and regulatory tightening all demand more sophisticated financial leadership. The organisation is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to build and embed world-class financial stewardship at the helm.

The Role
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, the Chief Financial Officer will own financial strategy, regulatory compliance, and capital discipline across the business. This is a Board-level appointment in a regulated environment where finance is not a support function but a core pillar of strategic decision-making and stakeholder trust.

  • Establish and execute a financial strategy that supports growth whilst maintaining capital resilience and compliance
  • Provide the CEO and Board with candid financial analysis, scenario modelling, and strategic counsel on acquisitions, product launches, and market expansion
  • Manage regulatory relationships, statutory filings, and audit liaison; ensure the business operates with clean governance and transparent controls
  • Oversee cash management, balance sheet optimisation, and allocation of capital across the business
  • Build and lead a finance team capable of supporting both current complexity and future scale
  • Drive forecasting, variance analysis, and performance reporting to support rapid decision-making in a competitive market

What we are looking for

  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified with a minimum of 10 years' experience in regulated financial services finance
  • Proven track record of CFO-level or Finance Director experience in a fast-growing, ambitious business
  • Deep knowledge of financial services regulation, capital adequacy, and compliance frameworks
  • Strong commercial acumen coupled with disciplined financial control and risk awareness
  • Ability to articulate financial strategy to Board, regulators, and external partners with clarity and conviction
