Financial Controller

Harper May is partnering with a fast-growing data centre group that is seeking a commercially focused Financial Controller to lead its finance operations. With significant infrastructure investment and an expanding portfolio, the business requires a hands-on finance leader to drive financial control, reporting, and process improvement across the group.

Role Overview:
The Financial Controller will oversee all day-to-day finance operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across multiple entities. Reporting to the CFO, this is a key leadership role, contributing to the company’s ongoing growth and supporting strategic financial planning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee preparation of monthly management accounts, group consolidations, and senior leadership reporting

• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning processes across the group

• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements

• Manage audit preparation and year-end reporting, liaising with auditors and external advisors

• Oversee balance sheet management, revenue recognition, and key reconciliations

• Partner with operational and technical teams to align financial processes with business strategy

• Drive continuous improvements in systems, processes, and reporting tools to support scalability

• Support debt reporting, capital management, and project-based finance activities

• Mentor and develop a small finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and high performance

Key Requirements:

• ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified with significant post-qualified experience

• Strong technical expertise in financial reporting, controls, and consolidations

• Experience in infrastructure, data centres, technology, or other capital-intensive sectors is highly desirable

• Commercially astute with strong business partnering and stakeholder management skills

• Proficient in financial systems, with advanced Excel capabilities

• Hands-on, detail-oriented, and able to operate strategically in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
