About the Role
Harper May is partnering with a leading real estate group that is seeking a Finance Director to lead its finance function through a period of continued growth and portfolio expansion. With a strong reputation for delivering high-value developments and asset management across commercial and residential sectors, the business requires a strategic finance leader to guide performance, governance, and long-term planning.
Role Overview:
As Finance Director, you will play a central role in shaping financial strategy, overseeing reporting, and ensuring the business maintains robust financial discipline. Reporting to the Board, you’ll lead a high-performing finance team and act as a key advisor to senior stakeholders on investment, risk, and growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic modelling across the group

Oversee monthly management reporting, financial analysis, and commentary for senior stakeholders

Manage all statutory reporting and ensure compliance with tax, audit, and regulatory requirements

Work closely with development and asset management teams to support commercial planning and investment appraisals

Maintain strong controls over working capital, funding, and cash flow

Provide Board-level financial insight and recommendations on long-term strategy

Liaise with external partners including auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions

Develop and mentor the finance team, embedding best practices and operational excellence across the function
Key Requirements:

ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified with significant post-qualified experience

Strong track record in a senior finance role within the real estate, property development, or asset management sector

Commercially minded with proven experience in managing large-scale investments or project financing

Deep technical accounting knowledge with a hands-on approach to leadership

Confident communicator with the ability to influence at board and investor level

Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and experienced in managing both financial operations and strategic planning
