About the Role
Harper May is working with a financial services business that is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to lead and develop its operational function. The organisation is focused on building a more efficient and scalable operating model, with an emphasis on improving processes, strengthening internal frameworks, and supporting consistent business performance.
The Role
As Chief Operating Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing how the business operates on a day-to-day basis, ensuring that systems, teams, and processes are aligned to support overall performance. Working alongside the leadership team, you will play a key role in improving operational delivery while supporting the execution of wider business plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of operational performance across the organisation
- Review and refine business processes to improve efficiency and consistency
- Ensure systems and operational structures support business requirements
- Support leadership in delivering strategic initiatives through effective operations
- Implement reporting frameworks to track operational performance
- Identify areas for improvement and drive continuous development across functions
- Work across teams to ensure alignment between operational and commercial activity
- Strengthen internal processes and maintain effective control standards
- Lead and support operational teams to ensure high-quality delivery
- Contribute to the development of the organisation’s operational capabilities
Candidate Profile
- Senior operational leadership experience within financial services
- Experience managing and improving operations within regulated environments
- Strong track record of enhancing processes and organisational performance
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage cross-functional activity
- Good understanding of operational controls and business processes
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
- Commercial awareness and a practical approach to operational challenges
