Case Study


After graduating with a master’s degree in Chemical Engineering back in 2013 I found myself at a loss, after working in the engineering sector for a number of months it distinctly lacked the fast paced environment and meritocratic approach that I wanted from a company. I decided to move to London and found recruitment ticked a lot of boxes, a few interviews later I joined Harper May in June 2014.


Harper May is set up a little differently than a lot of recruiters with our consultants specialising in either business development or candidate relationships. Learning Accounting and Finance through meeting and speaking with candidates I gained an in depth knowledge of the industry and then progressed through the company quickly achieving multiple promotions within a short space of time, I currently head up business development leading a team of consultants in winning new business and maintaining existing relationships with Harper May.


There are around 16,000 recruitment companies in London and it is sometimes difficult to know who to apply to. Harper May truly believes in innovation which we would like to think makes us unique, we have a monthly ideas meeting where everyone from the directors to our apprentices have an uninterrupted chance to voice any ideas they may have to help us improve the business, by listening and implementing these ideas Harper May is a company where you can make a big difference early on.


Over the past 2 ½ years I have been here we have grown from 4 people to a team of 17, implemented a new system, completely changed the way we work, developed a new website and moved office (3 times!). We are constantly advancing and looking for motivated individuals to help us continue to grow.
