Job Description

Financial Controller - Hotels

A large and renowned hotel based in based in the West End are looking for a Financial Controller to join their growing team due to a restructure. The hotel currently has over 1500 rooms, therefore requiring a candidate with a strong background within the hotel industry.

Key Responsibilities of the Financial Controller:

  • Ensure the management accounting process is timely and accurate
  • Preparation of the statutory accounts and financial reports
  • Management and setting of KPI's for 10 team members
  • Review and provide a detailed analysis of explanations on variances between actual and forecasted/budgeted performance
  • Provide accurate and timely information for management reporting
  • Ensure hotel controls are in place including any new policies and procedures
  • Ensure finance run to period-end timetables and all financial records for the hotels are maintained in an accurate and timely manor
  • Co-ordinate the production in the hotel of all timely forecasts and budgets
  • Work closely with Central Office and hotels management in achieving the company working capital targets for accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Determine capital expenditure and agree required spends for feasible studies
  • Perform periodic checks to include float checks, petty cash, cash security, clearance of control accounts and review paymasters
  • Review weekly and monthly hotel accounts for accuracy
  • Ensure information for accounts are provided accurately and within timeframes
  • Produce and analyse annual, monthly budgets and forecasts
  • Facilitate the understanding of current trends and key performance measures within the hotel and monitor performance against nominated competitors
  • Ensure all accounts are reconciled as required
  • Review accruals and pre-payments
  • Report at period end on all key expenditure areas
  • Staff Management

Key requirements:

  • Previous experience as a financial controller
  • Hotel industry background either as an FC or Assistant FC
  • SAP experience would be preferable
  • Management of large finance teams (min 5)
  • Qualified or Finalist ACA / ACCA /CIMA
