Job Description

Harper May is currently working with a British giant in the publishing industry on the lookout for an experienced Financial Controller. Based in stunning central London offices, this organization has been responsible for the production of some of the world's best known and loved book series, from immensely successful thrillers imagined by some of the world's best established authors to globally renowned children's series. Known on a international basis and with offices in London, New York and Paris this leader in the diverse and ever changing publishing industry has achieved a record turnover figure last year and continues expand at a consistent rate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee full month end accounting procedure ensuring accounts are prepared on time and to company standards
  • Full budgeting and forecasting for new business venture
  • Maintain full control of UK's company trial balance
  • Carry out ad hoc procedure with company management teams
  • Strategy development and improvement for UK division liaising with senior finance members to influence future financial outcomes
  • Kpi analysis
  • Board pack production , presenting quarterly figures
  • Implement and create important cost saving initiatives when necessary to ensure greater business profitability
  • Margin analysis, business partnering head of sales when necessary
  • Business partnering international teams in Australia and Paris in consolidation of company figures and coordination of group targets
  • Oversee a growing team of 5 in finance

Preferred skills and traits:

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification
  • Exceptional communicative ability
  • Experience in the publishing industry
  • Ability to report in a timely manner and to company deadlines
  • Extensive business partnering experience with senior management
